Hi, we’re Stevie and Kit!
Welcome to our family interiors blog, inspired by the spaces children grow up in and the homes that grow alongside them.
Like many parents, we found ourselves spending far more time thinking about our home’s functionality once children came along. Rooms that once worked perfectly suddenly needed to accommodate cots, clothes storage, high chairs, changing tables, book nooks, bath caddies and all the other little details family life brings with it.
Gradually, the mission to fulfil practical needs became a genuine fascination. We found ourselves endlessly researching nursery and playroom ideas, comparing paint colours, sourcing furniture, building moodboards and discussing ways to create spaces that were both beautiful and achievable.
We realised that our favourite family traditions didn’t come from expensive purchases or perfectly styled rooms. Instead, they came from the small, thoughtful touches that affected how smoothly we use those spaces. For instance, the cosy reading corner, the well-loved toy shelf, or the bedroom designed around a child’s interests.
Kit & Leaf is a family interiors blog.
We share the big decisions and small details behind the homes that work beautifully for everyday family life.
From designing children’s rooms to rethinking storage, organisation and space planning, our goal is simple: to help homes work better for the families who live in them.
Our own home in Essex, where we live with our two young children, is constantly evolving. Naturally, they continue to provide plenty of inspiration (and just as much chaos) for a space that’s growing with us.
Everything you’ll find here is shaped by our own experiences of family life. That includes decorating on a budget, making mistakes, changing our minds and discovering what really works.
So whether you’re preparing for a new baby, refreshing a child’s room or simply looking for your next home project…
